Provorov, who led the Flyers with of ice time, won it with a wrist shot from beyond the circles after a pass from Hayes. Got a great shot and a goal that permits us to have a chance. We wanted to have a chance. If someone had asked me at the beginning of this series against such a strong opponent, one game, winner take all, I would have taken that. Semyon Varlamov made 26 saves. The Islanders outshot the Flyers This is part of our process.

We're pretty evenly matched. It's probably fitting that it is a Game 7. Barzal gave the Islanders a lead with 30 seconds remaining in the second period. Brassard swiped the puck from Flyers defenseman Travis Sanheim to Barzal, who spun in the left circle and roofed a wrist shot over Hart. Laughton tied it on a breakaway with his fifth goal of the postseason at of the third period.

When you're on the other end getting a lot of shots, it's pretty easy to stay in the game. He's been a big part of it for us. Brassard redirected Devon Toews ' pass moments after a power play expired to make it at of the first.

Matt Martin tied it at of the second period with a wrist shot from between the circles. The Flyers challenged for goalie interference, and the Islanders were awarded a power play.

Anders Lee then scored with the man-advantage at on a rebound to give New York a lead. Apparently he owns the Penguins. It didn't take long at all for Claude Giroux to put his stamp on Game 6.

The Flyers' scoring star set the tone with a big hit on Sidney Crosby just after the puck dropped in the first period and came back to score the opening goal just moments later. Sidney Crosby's solid series came to a close with little more than a murmur. The Pens' superstar center managed just two shots on goal and a minus-two rating without registering a single point after stringing together eight points through the first five.

Geno had himself a decent outing against the Flyers, albeit one that couldn't quite keep the Pens close enough to force Game 7. Malkin registered Pittsburgh's only goal of the contest to finish the series with a total of eight points. A goal, two assists, a plus-two rating, a Flyers-record 14 points in the series and a tone-setting hit on Sid the Kid Ilya Bryzgalov finally rewarded the Flyers for their faith and sizable investment in him.

After surrendering four goals per game through the first five, the big Russian came up aces in Game 6, stopping 30 of 31 shots while practically standing on his head. The Flyers finally put an end to this thrilling, up-and-down series by slowing down the pace and hitting the Penguins in the mouth.

Philly didn't exactly achieve Broad Street Bully status, though the team's physicality—along with Bryzgalov's brilliance in net—did plenty to stifle the goal-happy Pens in the deciding game.

Giroux deserves plenty of credit for getting the Flyers going in this one, though it's tough to overlook just how good and important Bryzgalov was with his finest performance of the postseason by far.
