What should i upgrade in dead space

I have to take a closer look at 2 and 3 sometime. I had hardly died at all until this chapter. I'm not sure how many times I died before getting out of that room with it and the sizeable collection of mortal monsters. I haven't finished that chapter yet, I have to go back thru that room. Yes, the Hunter, the 2nd confrontation with him just destroyed me over and over. I stopped the game before going in for the 3rd confrontation. I just watched a walkthru of chapter 4 with the Hunter.

I think I have a better idea of how to deal with it now. I guess he took advantage of the credit glitches to load up or maybe in subsequent playthrus you retain your char from previous ones?

Gah, I wasted sooo much ammo facing the Hunter so far. I'm gonna change how I do my game save. Have a save at the beginning of each chapter in a save slot. As progress is made in a chapter, use the next save slot for repeatedly for incremental saves. When reaching the next chapter, save a final one in that slot That way I could go back to start of the chapter.

I don't have that option now since I've just been using one save slot and only have most recent save. Upgrading weapons makes a big difference, 2 notches up on damage is very noticeable. So far I've spread upgrades around between: plasmacutter, forcegun, linecutter, pulserifle, and statis. Even only partially upgraded, the forcegun sometimes can oneshot a monster at close range. Also just scored a level 4 suite, yea, more cargo slots :. One of these machines can also be found on the Lunar colony of Earth, possibly due to the fact that the place is a slum and the old bench-tech is easy to access and purchase.

For unknown reasons, this form of bench was replaced with the newer variant of that technology, except the user can no longer customize freely the look of the weapon or tool but could instead upgrade its abilities, damage, and other things. Upgrades to R. G suits can no longer be performed at the bench, the Suit Kiosk is required for this instead.

In Dead Space 2 you unlock an ability at Chapter 7 called "Respec" that allows you to remove all the Nodes from one tool and return them to your inventory. These recovered Nodes can then be applied to other tools and equipment.

The Respec process costs 5, Credits to perform. You can completely restore your health at any time by using Respec on your RIG and then reapplying the Nodes in a Health upgrade. This can be done an unlimited number of times as long as you have the 5, Credits for each Respec procedure.

It is the same cost that a medium pack and cheaper than a large med pack, so it is profitable if you are really low on health. As regards weapons, "respec" allows to get ammunition thanks to the reload effect of upgrading CAP circuits. It doesn't look interesting at a first sight, but note that every variant of the same weapon you're holding will be impacted. I didn't vote, but from where I'm at in the game, it seems like upgrading the rig doesn't have much payoff for the number of nodes you have to throw in there. For me, damage is the king.
